At Westlands, we believe in the importance of both a traditional academic curriculum, that gives students the essential knowledge they need to be educated citizens, and a curriculum that promotes our RADAR values, (respect, achievement, diversity, aspiration and resilience).  By focusing on these principles, our students are fully prepared for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences needed to gain qualifications and to enrich their later lives.

We aim to inspire a curiosity in all our students, and a desire to discover answers and seek solutions.  We use driving questions in all key stages to develop our students’ ability to think independently, creatively and holistically.

The balanced and broad curriculum we offer at Westlands has been carefully designed to ensure the incremental development of both knowledge and skills.  But, at the heart of our curriculum is a clear focus on the core knowledge, (which centres on literary, numeracy and reading skills), needed by all students, no matter what their personal barriers, to make good progress.

If, as a parent, you wish to find out more information regarding a subject, please contact the Subject Leader, who is listed on each of the subject pages.
