Higher Education
At Westlands Sixth Form, we offer a support programme for students looking to proceed to higher education. Students can expect guided workshops, talks from local universities and trips during Years 12-13 along with individual and group support meetings. In term 6, we will be holding a Year 12 HE Transitions Panel for Parents and Students, more details will be shared during Term 5. Full details of our Careers programme can be found here.

Can I visit a University before I apply?
Universities regularly have open days scheduled for potential students. Some universities are also offering virtual opening days so that you can meet university staff, learn about the campus and courses and ask any questions that you may have. What can I study at University?
Deciding what to study at university can be daunting. Your choice of subject at Sixth Form or college can change the options that you may have at University. Each subject you study will open doors to different degrees. Higher Degree and Apprenticeships
Higher apprenticeships go from level 4 to 7 and are equivalent to a foundation degree and above. Degree apprenticeships are available at levels 6 and 7 and are equivalent to a full bachelor's and Master's. They combine work with study and may include a work-based, academic or combined qualification or a professional qualification relevant to the industry.
