Course Overview
The AQA A Level Economics course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of both microeconomic and macroeconomic principles. It equips learners with the analytical tools and knowledge necessary to understand economic behaviour, market dynamics, and the economic issues that shape societies.
Assessment: The AQA A Level Economics is assessed through three exams at the end of the two year course.
Paper 1: Markets and Market Failure (80 marks)
- Focuses on microeconomics.
- Includes data response and extended essay questions.
Paper 2: National and International Economy (80 marks)
- Focuses on macroeconomics.
- Includes data response and extended essay questions.
Paper 3: Economic Principles and Issues (80 marks)
- Synoptic paper covering both microeconomics and macroeconomics.
- Includes multiple choice, data questions, explanation questions and extended essay questions.

Year 13

- What is the distribution of income and wealth and does this contribute to inequality?
- How does macroeconomy work?
- What impacts economic performance?
- What is the structure of financial markets and what is the purpose of monetary policy?
- How do the exchange rate systems support economic growth
- How does international trade link to globalisation?
