Student Leadership
At Westlands Secondary School we value Student Leadership as part of the overall enrichment of a young person's life, both within the wider curriculum and in supporting their leadership aspirations for future careers.
Being part of the Student Leadership Team supports pupils in developing important skills such as:
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Resilience
- Organisation
- Reliability
- Decision-making
At Westlands Secondary School we believe that many students can demonstrate leadership skills in many different aspects of school life. Some examples of our Student Leadership opportunities are:
- Head Boys for Years 7 - 10
- Head Girls for Years 7 - 10
- Student Ambassadors for Years 7 - 10
- Princess Diana Anti-bullying Ambassadors for Years 7 - 10.
When our students are given the responsibility to lead in a variety of roles at Westlands Secondary School, they feel a sense of pride in contributing to the school community. This helps to create a positive and inclusive school environment where students are trusted, feel supported and are valued.
Ultimately, our Student Leadership program fosters a sense of belonging and collaboration amongst the student body, teachers and staff, leading to a more vibrant and enjoyable school culture.
If, for any reason, a student missed the chance to apply for a Student Leadership position at the start of the academic year, they can contact Mrs A. Weekly (Student Leadership Coordinator), so they can be considered for future opportunities.
